In the quote, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision,” Helen Keller uses “blindness” to emphasize how detrimental it is to have “sight but no vision.” Having the ability to see, but choosing not to live life to the fullest, is worse than being blind. Not because being blind is life-ending, but because living without “vision” acts as an insult to blind individuals. The ability to see is a privilege and a gift, and choosing to waste it by living life in apathy or without any real motivation, is the worst thing a person can do.
